Quarter 3, Week 6: American Culture

Imagine that you were a cultural anthropologist, and you have decided to study American culture by visiting Fremd High School every day for an entire school year.  If the only exposure you had to American culture was what you had at Fremd, what would you think?  What values would you think were central to American life?

I think that Fremd is a very cliqey place to be. Everyone needs to be with someone at all times. Even to go to the bathroom girls find the need to be together but not so much boys. and in those groups of friends you have there items. phones and ipods and computers are compared and exchanged because everyone is jealous of everyone else. Fremd is a wierd place to be in if you actually stop and watch what is happeneing. we have to survive here and this is how we stay alive.

Fremd is a strange place filled with cliques, and dozens of people texting all of the time. There are also the sort of people that either listen to music on their IPODs, or play handheld video games. As far as what popularity means, I have no clue. As far as what values mean, I do my best to not judge anyone, because it can cause a person to lose sight of what is important.

If Fremd was the only exposure i had to American culture, I'd find all Americans superficial, two -faced, and quite selfish. But it truly depends what you make of the experience at Fremd and who you decide to befriend.

Fremd is a place where there are a lot of groups of friends. If the only exposure I had to American culture was at Fremd, I would think that all Americans would be dumb, vein, and fake. Not everyone at Fremd is like that, but thats kind of how everyone is here. We try to fit in too much unless you're one of those people who don't really care, but then if you are one of those who dont care then I feel like you get judged. It's all in the matter of who you become friends with at Fremd.
