Deviance

The idea of deviance in most cases is a bad idea. For instance, I'm sitting here watching these deviants protesting at NATO and they're being stupid about it, although it is entertaining it's a bad a example of deviance. A good example of deviance would be like what happened during the civil rights movement, they were smart about it and went about it the right way. They stood up for what they believed for in a diplomatic way, unlike these ne'er-do-wells at NATO.

I agree that deviance can be used in a positive way to change the views of a society. The civil rights movement is a perfect example of positive deviance. They went about presenting their ideas in a good way, and it was able to change the norms and views of society.

Adding to it, deviance should have a real cause. The occupy movement doesn't have a real goal. All they do is whine about how their lives aren't good enough.

I think NATO would be considered an extreme form of deviance, but most of the people weren't even standing up for anything but looking to pick a fight. (which in a way shows it wasn't much deviance at all but a useless few days for the public) It was ridiculous and frankly kind of disturbing to watch.

i definitely agree that the deviance that is going on downtown is stupid and needs to be stopped and i also agree with the example you used of good deviance. I think some forms of deviance can help make a change

I agree in most cases it is a bad idea. Most deviances are considered binge drinking and gambling so usually it is extremely detrimental to your life as a whole. It also has a negative impact on society.
