Gender Norms

Gender norms are a huge part of our society.  Boys and girls act differently around the opposite sex than they do around the same.  I think guys feel like they always have to be in charge and all tough.  Like we said in class it is a big insult to a little boy to be "acting like a girl."  Although gender norms are still a problem in our society, things have gotten a lot better than a while back.  Men were expected to work and women always stayed home with the kids.  Now a days, it is not unusal for women to be successful and provide for their families.

It definitely has been getting better, but now we just have different ways of getting around womens rights'. Take for example the word "gay" back in the day that meant happy or fun. Now its like the worst diss to a guy you can say. I feel that this is another way our society has very strict gender norms

I agree that both men and women act differently around the opposite sex than they do around the same sex. I also feel that guys see it as an insult to be acting like a girl. I think gender roles have gotten a little better, but they are still a problem in our society.
