Gender Norms

Gender norms are a huge part of our society. Ever since you are born you are shown the "correct" way to act for your gender. Boys are usually given sports balls while girls are given dolls. By being told what you are supposed to be using for your entire life, basically shapes the adult you will be. Of course there are those that reject the norm, but they are singled out and ridiculed by being called names. So most just try to stick within the accepted gender norm.

i agree with what you said about the people who dont fall under the catagory of normal. A lot of people really make it obvious that if you dont follow the traditinal path of your gender than u will be singled out and scrutinized

i agree with what you said. the last part reminded me of the scene in the video where he metaphorically compares the tough guy mentally to all guys fitting into one box and having the words wuss and weak on the outside of it, forcing us to remain boxed in.

i agree that we are brought up with these gender norms telling us the way we are supposed to act. and if people don't they do get called names and get made fun off. so yea i guess the easiest thing for people to do is to conform to it.
