I think this issue is more of a human rights issue. Even in the article it said that in China, HIV is mostly just spread through sexual contact. So if someone denies a person from teaching because of HIV they should have a good reason for it.. like this person is a child molester or something and therefore may get into sexual contact with the children and possibly spread the virus. But to simply deny them because they have the virus doesn't seem fair because no one would know the person had the virus unless they tested them anyways.

I agree with Katie. HIV is a sexually transmitted disease. As long as the teachers don't come in contact with their students, it'll all be okay. It's not a good enough reason for them to have to quit teaching.

I agree with both of you guys i think it is wrong to deny someone their job based off of their health status

I think this would be like the equivalent of firing a teacher whenever they got sick and had to miss work. Or better yet, letting them go because they had any encounter with a human being in general because who knows what kind of germs and bacteria they could be spreading! I just really don't feel like whatever committee decided to deny the teachers jobs didn't logically think about it at all.
