i don't believe that the wealthiest 1% of Americans should have to give up their wealth. i believe that forcing them to give up their wealth is totally uncalled for and un american, however i would hope that they have enough compassion to voluntarily donate some to those less fortunate

I agree. Making the 1% pay for what the 99% can't could be compared to a financial draft. I believe there have been tests and studies done on this sort of subject. It goes something along the lines of 50% of the time, we think people will not give up some sort of money but realistically, 80% of the time, they actually do. In other words, we like to assume that everyone else is a whole hell of a lot less moral than they actually are.
