Cruel and unuaual punishment is something that can be seen as inhuman treatment towards another human. In my opinion the death penalty is cruel and unusual, and should be protected by the 8th amendment. If the person on death row is being killed by an officer, that makes the officer no better then any other murderer. I think that life in prison is a much more harsh punishment as opposed to death. If somebody were to get put in prison for life they would have nothing but to think about what they did forver, and it would be on thier conscinece. Clearly the 8th amendment is neccesary in our society it just needs to be expanded to outlaw the death penalty. If killing somebody isn't cruel and unusual then what is?

I agree that the 8th amendment isn't fuly elaborated upon. It simply states, "cruel and unusual punishment." I also agree with how the death penalty is protected by the 8th amendment. A life sentence would also give a criminal time to be justified by other fellow criminals. Some crimes are worse than others, and some inmates might find others' crimes to be more inhumane than they should be. Therefore, the criminals would be the justice system of other criminals

i agree that the 8th amendment needs to be more clarified. and it was a good statement that if an officer takes the life of a prisoner on death row then are they really any better. it makes you stop and think.

I agree with you. The death penalty should deffinately be considered a cruel or unusual punishment. I think life in prison would be much worse. If the person stays alive then their conscious would just eat at them for what they did. Also many innocent people die because of the death penalty because sometimes people dont really know if the person commited the crime or not. The 8th amendment should be specified.

I agree with the life in prison is much worse than death. You will be bored for the rest of your life, you can't do anything plus the thing you did will always be on your mind. The death penalty should be never used again.
