The Story Of Stuff

This video was not that surprising at all. Everyone knows that the US is a very wasteful place but no one wants to do anything about it. Having a lady throw big numbers at me isn't going to make me go out and start a community recycling program. I thought she exaggerated a lot when she was just listing off how we don't appreciate everything we have and just throw it out after 6 months. With technology because it is improving by the day, this is almost necessary to stay in the loop. However, people don't just dump their old stuff, I still use my old iPod, and I know that there are many places that recycle these electronics. It's up to the people to take advantage of these programs.
After watching this video, I really don't feel that different about Black Friday. I never participated in it before, and I probably won't participate in it after watching this video, anyway.

I completely agree with this interpretation of the video. America is the way it is because society created it. Obviously there has to be something good about it if so many people are here. The video just blasted the readers with a lot of numbers that did not really mean anything. Yeah they were good facts, but like he said, they don't really inspire me to change anything. If it talked more about the power we have to change and maybe a few examples of productive change then the video would have been more useful.

As much as people think they can change the waste problems i agree that this will not change oeoples ways. The only way that something like this can be reduced is by law or if people see a problem first hand. For example if america starts to have an overwhelming build up of trash they might take notice. However ive seen plenty of videos on saving the planet where they give productive ways to change and i dont think they work either. All that happens is i will say i will do better for the enviornment and forget about it an hour later. On top of this as much as id like to beleive in one person can make a difference i see enough people trying and failing to get others to help their cause.

Yeah this video did not really do anything for me either. I agree with that part about the 6 month cycle of throwing stuff out. Also about the ipod part i still use alot of my old technology stuff. I think i've had a ps2 for like 10 years or something like that but its just gathering dust now.
