the end of the Iraq war

I think that the end of the Iraq war was the most significant event of 2011. Nearly a decade ago, we came together to stand up against an unnecessary war, built on lies and fear. People have waited for eight long years for this war to end, and they finally got their wish. Thousands of loved ones are returned to their families, and we now have peace. The Iraq has had a heavy toll on our country, financially, socially, and emotionally, and we must remember the painful costs of the war. Unfortunately, over 4,000 American soldiers lost their lives in the war, and tens of thousands wounded. We honor the brave men and women who served in Iraq, and we owe them a debt of gratitude for their service.
