Reflecting on 2011

I think the most significant event in 2011 was the killing of Osama Bin Laden. Although it didn't solve every problem the United States has with the Taliban it did help us bring home troops and it brought some faith in the government to the people. Because Bin Laden was in charge of the attacks on September 11th, killing him also brought a sense of pride to Americans. It provided the U.S. with more security to start focusing on problems within the country. This event is one that is going to be talked about for years to come and one that helped provide a turning point in the war overseas.

I agree that not only has the death of Osama Bin Laden helped the government, but it has also helped to strengthen our nation. It gave Americans a reason to be proud. It also helped them put more of their trust back into the government. His death also gave a reason for all of the time that we spent in Iraq at war.
