2011

I think that the killing of Osama Bin Laden was the most important event of 2011. We had been trying to find/capture him for a long time and the killing of him was very significant to the United States. Economically, we saved money because troops were brought home and we didn't have to spend on them. Politically, we eliminated a large threat to not only us but other countries too. With Bin Laden dead, the United States will have less fear and will be able to focus a little more on our domestic problems.

I agree with Kara that killing Osama was very important to 2011. For me, I think that his killing is more important on a personal scale rather than economic. Now the people whose loved ones were killed on 9/11 can rest knowing they did not die in vain. It seems weird to imagine someone's death being as significant as it is, but Osama is different. He killed thousands of innocent lives and his death was surely a powerful moment for our country. Our country is changed forever because of what he did.

I agree with you, Osama death was very important to 2011. He was a big threat to the United States and we captured him and killed him. He killed thousands of lives. Knowing that he is gone now there is a big relief in United States.
