Harlow Experiments

The experiments that Harry Harlow completed were very influential, whether that is a good or bad thing. Today though, what he did would not be tolerated, and for good reason. He found out that humans need interaction with each other in order to survive, yes. But he treated those monkeys with a lack of mind for their development. I'm not saying that it wasn't worth it, because it expanded our scientific knowledge of the human brain and body, but it still would not be tolerated today, and I would not want to witness the same thing happen again today. PETA and other animal cruelty organization would definitely be all over it.

yeah i understand what you are saying. im also not sure if it was worth it because he did treat them with out any care. today he would not get away with that.

i agree with Jake , you wouldn't know how they treat the animals.

I agree! Performing these today would be a terrible decision. I can't see people these days tolerating this any better than before. Animal cruelty organizations would go bananas. I do also agree that these were good to do earlier as they opened our minds. All of this could cause great controversy.

I agree. There are many organizations today that protect animal's rights. Harlow's experiments shouldn't be repeated, and they wouldn't be able to be repeated as well.

I agree that PETA would definitely gain a lot more members or followers if this experiment happened again. It would be all over the news. People wouldn't understand or want to understand what results we get from this test.

I agree with both of what Nick and Ryan said. I think the experiments were approached in the wrong way. Without exposing them to social ideas, the monkeys became flawed. Because of the people probably wouldn't want the same thing to happen and thus would not be repeated. And I think PETA would be all over it. They'd gain so many followers.
