In this economy, there is only so much Adono and Alan can do to better their income or monetary situation. They could try to get a second job or find a higher paying job, but it is unlikely. While looking for jobs, they can try their best to save money even though they barely have enough to feed their children. Their life is really tough and I think they are doing what they can to get by.

I agree. There is only so much you can do right now because of how crappy our economy is. They could also try finding a job with a little bit of health insurance benefits to try and ease the expense from the hospital.
I also agree with kara. Alan and Adono are doing the best they can with the circumstances they are faced with. With this economy it is hard for people to find jobs that aren't even in poverty. They just need to try to save money as best as they can.
