I believe the most important event of 2011 was the killing of Osama bin laden. Although he no longer headed the terrorist organization, he was behind the 9/11 attacks and caused nationwide panick. Now the US has killed Al-Qaeda's figurehead, ten years after Al-Qaeda murdered thousands of US citizens.

I believe the most important events of 2011 were the killing of Osama Bin Laden and the death of Kim Jong Il. Both of these events had a severe effect on the political aspect of America. Osama Bin Laden's death had a lot to do with the end of the war, which gave Obama a lot of credit politically. Kim Jong Il's death made America realize that a lot could be changing with our relationship with North Korea, so it was drastic.

Many monumental things happened in 2011. I think the death of Osama Bin Laden was a big deal for America but it had little effect on what was actually happening in the war. A bigger thing in 2011 was the protests and rebellion that the world saw. From Egypt to Wall Street the common man really made their mark on America in the year 2011
