reflecting on 2011

I think that the most significant thing to happen was the end of the Iraq war. Although many important things have happened this year, I believe that this is the most relatable. Many of us have some sort of tie into the war. It was very important for it to end because I believe it left people with a lot of lost faith in the government. Although there was a purpose for entering the war, I don't think it was articulated well because many Americans had no idea why we were there and this left a general consensus that it was a "pointless" war. With the troops removed, this may have the effect of restoring faith in our government and hopefully this will boost the economy.

I agree that the Iraq war ending was a significant event of 2011. By this war finally ending, we can now focus on the future, and restore the faith in our government.

I think the ending of the Iraq War was significant also because now with the troops out, we can focus on domestic problems and less on military problems. Also, bringing troops home was very encouraging and uplifting for most Americans.
