State of the Union

There were two parts of Obama's speech that stood out to me specifically. First, I agree with Obama that companys that are outsourcing should not get tax cuts. I think this would help our government raise more money with taxes. Also, more jobs will be available for Americans. In the long run, this will help with the unemployment rate and decrease the national debt. It may not be the biggest change, but it will most definitely help. Any little bit can make a difference. Also, another part that stood out to me was Obama saying that teachers matter. I think it was nice how he was saying such nice things about teachers. This especially stood out to me because I am thinking about going into education in college, so it stood out to me more than other topics discussed.

I agree with this completely. i think recognizing the impact teachers have on kids now and essentiallythe future of our country is a big thing that goes unrecognized. i think it was a good thing to point out to the people.

Very interesting speech by Obama. I do agree that outsourcing companies should not get tax cuts. Everyone, in turn, will begin to outsource. Government needs all the money they can get. Taxes seem to be the most important thing they depend on to receive that money. I also agree with you on the teachers. This is so important to us as students with amazing teachers like Mrs. COCO.

Thanks for the shout out, Jack. This does not mean you're getting extra credit. :-)

I agree! He really focused on education throughout his whole speech. I also plan on becoming a teacher so it makes me feel good that the government wants to show that teachers matter!!
